The labour market entry of young people is becoming an increasingly complex and bitterly protracted worldwide. Until the 1970s, in the Soviet countries of interest, including Hungary, the possibility of immediate employment, typical of the late 1980s, was a thing of the past. Fixed-term forms of employment with low social security are typical. The sociological literature is full of concepts such as the NEET rate, the description of the STW precariousness of the school-to-work transition. Youth Labour in Transition explores how young people adjust to the world of work, what factors influence their job search strategies and how losing a job or returning to the parental home affects their life path. The article looks at what needs to be done in the context of the results of the EU7 research project
